Project 3 : Tsunami Historical Analysis

An Analyst wants to explore about historical tsunami cases around the world. For the analysis purpose, the data used is from BigQuery Public Data : 'noaa_tsunami'.

The informations that analyst need are :
Where is the location that tsunami often occur?
In what year many victims injured?
In what year many victims dead?
How many victims were lost based on the location of the incident?
This project solved with Google BigQuery and Google Data Studio
Data Preview
There are two tables in 'noaa_tsunami' public data. The tables name are 'historical_runups' and 'historical_source_event'.

Location Where Tsunami Often Occur
Analyst wants to know where tsunami often occur. The query is :


The visualization is :

From the bar chart above, seems like Miyagi Prefecture often occur tsunami disasters. Tsunami occur 2,637 times in Miyagi Prefecture. Another information obtained by the analyst from the bar chart is that the Top 3 locations where tsunami frequently occur are in Japan.
It might be happen because Japan is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Ring of fire means Japan is surrounded by active volcanoes. Volcanic activity can trigger an earthquake, an earthquake with a high strength can trigger a tsunami.
Year With Many Injured Victims
Analyst wants to know in what year many victims were injured, the query used to solve this is:

From the bar chart above, In 1976 the most injures due to tsunami disaster. Then 2018 in the second position which is the year the most injured victims due to tsunami disaster.
Year With Many Victims Were Dead
Analyst wants to know in what year the most victims were dead due to tsunami disaster. The query to answer this question is:

From the chart above, we know that in the 1737 there are 300,003 people were dead due to tsunami disaster. It was the highest death rate comparing with other year. In the 2004 total death was 238,133 due to tsunami. It might be happen because in the 2004 there was earthquake with 9 ritcher scale in Aceh and it caused powerful tsunami which so many people dead.
A Number Of People Were Lost Based On Location
Analyst wants to know how many people were lost based on tsunami location. The query is:

The result:

From the heatmap table above, we can see that tsunami in Krakatau caused 31,943 people were lost. Then, in the second position there is tsunami in Colombia that caused 20,000 people were lost.
Conclusion
From the analysis above, we can conclude that :
Miyagi Prefecture is a place where tsunami often occur
In the 1976 the most people injures due to tsunami disaster
In the 1737 the most people dead due to tsunami disaster
Krakatau is the place where many people were lost due to tsunami disaster
